Hidden Folks - Forget Waldo, Where is that Duck?

HIDDEN FOLKS

Happy New Year! In the wake of the busy holidays and as I work on playing a long game this early 2017 release made it into my queue.

Remember the Where's Waldo books? Hidden Folks is basically an extension of that genre that employs interactive searching in a way that could not be done in a picture book. You have a list of tiny people, things and animals that you are looking for in a hand drawn themed setting.

At first the game gives you a few small areas with a half dozen things to look for but soon it opens into huge settings full of hundreds of moving interactive pieces and you have dozens of things on your checklist. But not to fear each item on your list comes with a clever tip if you need it and you can zoom in to see every little level of detail. In addition to the wonderful drawn art of Hidden Folks every sound effect and voice is mouth-generated noise that fits the style of the game perfectly.

It fits bite sized play very well with it saving at any time so you can pop in find a person (or a whatever) or two then come back later. I have only worked my way through 6 or so of the 20+ areas (with more being released) and found each delightful. Hidden folks is a terrific little game that fits a niche I've not seen addressed before in modern gaming.
