Three For Free - Let's Get Narrative!

Hey it's a new year and while I continue my underwater adventures (a hint for next weeks article) how about some free games? It's another Three for Free! This week it's all about short narrative games (mostly).

The Old Tree

Take some time to crawl along as tiny green apple alien through a series of dark but beautiful scenes. You begin the game on the forest floor among the mushrooms and bugs but before long the game takes you to all types of places. Travel upwards to your next destination. The Old Tree features some light point and click puzzles accompanied by great sound and music. A nice little free game that makes me want to try the developers full game, Tales of Cosmos.

The Mammoth : A Cave Painting

The art style of cave paintings is not one that is often seen in video games as a graphic option but as it turns out with a little extra embellishment it looks great. Take control of a mother mammoth and protect your children through a short story about the harsh Paleolithic times. The Mammoth features good narration and in the 10 or so minutes it takes to play through will manage to make the room a bit dusty. I am looking forwards to the developers upcoming game All Walls Must Fall.

This game is the outlier from the others as a couch co-op game. You and your partner take the roll of two masked beavers stealing logs. You have to get to the log and then return to your pickup truck. Each level is a ever progressing series of obstacles designed to slow you down, catch you up or worse. You are working against the clock, the faster you go the more stars you get, more stars unlock more levels. Currently in early access there are 15 levels but they adding more levels and other content frequently. It's a lot fun.
