Back in the summer I wrote about Yoku's Island Express and how so much of it surprised me. This little metroidvania style exploration game mixed with pinball arenas felt so good to play. The difficulty and game progression were spot on for me. The characters, visuals and world are charming all back up by what I would say is the game soundtrack of the year for me (I am literally humming it as I write this). This game was a delight to play and was one of the few games this year I just didn't want to put down. I hope one day it gets a sequel.
